I Reflect. Climate Change.- My One Thing

Look around. What do you see? If you can’t see it, what do you hear? If you cannot hear it, what do you observe? If you didn’t observe anything, how do you feel? Yes!  How do you feel? That is if you are feeling it and them. So much to see but we play possum, so much to feel but we ignore, so much to hear but we pretend we didn’t hear any. We choose to see the dime that shines within the grasp of our sight and the grasp of our materialistic and self-centered hearts. Yes they are screaming for help, some of them, NO! Most of them! Most will never be able to seek help anymore. Because, they are all vanish. They’re gone extinct. A specie, a place and even someone that we knew, gone. It is because of something we never anticipate could happen, because of ignorance perhaps! That holds an importance, the most significant of all, but we all disregard it in exchange for something that don’t lasts, money!
Chasing Ice, a National Geographic Channel’s documentary that shows how fast ices from the northern hemisphere have shrunk due of the climate change, a sudden change in average weather conditions that is what it was and in a short period of time. Ice bergs the size of twice of Manhattan melts and run adrift in the ocean. They retreat! The amount of retreated ice averages for 300 years take place for only just 10 years now. Global warming, that is how we call it.
When I was teaching elementary my kids ask me, “What is global warming?” I said, “Floods, typhoons, tornados, heavy rains, droughts. That is what Global warming is”. They ask me, “what is the cause of it”. I say, “CO2 emissions, logging trees, burning plastics, Etc.” For the last time a kid ask me. “Teacher, what is the extent harm that could happen to us if it is so?” I told them the story of my hometown-”I am from the City of Koronadal, it is located in a bowl, surrounded by mountains and right now the city is battling an issue against a wealthy mining company, the SMI (Sagittarius Mines Incorporated). If this issue approves their issuance to operate, flood will surely occupy the every streets and homes of my hometown, the city will unquestionably drown and many people will die.” While explaining to I do it while drawing the story on the board. After I speak somebody is sniffing and burst into tears. I am so glad how I touch their hearts with this fact and may they be those the defender of the future of the one that has been destroyed, destroyed by those who lacks knowledge about the effect of their actions.
How to begin? When to begin? And do we begin? Look at those lands that had vanished, look at those animals that gone extinct, look at those people who lost and will be losing their lives! That is where you begin. Look at the mammoths! It is never too late to begin never too late to start your One this.
